If you want someone to tell you the program is great, then, okay, I volunteer. homeowners and DIY garden designers.Įxcept the experienced, creative homeowner garden designers probably wouldn't touch the program either.
that those who have used your software of choice would all be. What if, Worm, no decent professional landscape designer or architect would touch your software package with a 10 foot pole? I'm hoping that software exists that will make this process a little easier and will help me learn without feeling so overwhelmed. I've used photoshop a bit and found it very helpful, but it took me hours to figure out what plants I should put in my part shade, zone 5 spot for privacy purposes, then had to go find pictures and edit them for use in photoshop. When I start on a project, I usually give up because there are just too many plants to learn and it is overwhelming.
I know software will not be perfect, but I am CLUELESS when it comes to landscape design and plants and generally become frustrated or waste money while trying to just fix up my yard a bit. (although it did show growth) Now I'm trying to find software that will show seasons and ideally allow me to select plants based on light and moisture requirements.
I downloaded the trial version of Realtime Photo and liked it for visualization purposes, until I realized that I can't change the season. What kind of learning curve is required to design and create working plans On HDP to submit to planning departments? The more Abilities the program delivers the longer the Learning Curve and the higher the Price.
After checking on several programs, so far it seems there are three factors to consider: Ability, learning curve and price. I especially like the details on doors, windows etc and the ability to create a materials list as you go. For me, creating a box was easy, adding complexities takes time and lots of patience. Inserting custom multi-pane windows took days and nearly drove me crazy. But once walls are connected and say you have a bump out made with 45 degree walls where corners would be, and then need to change dimensions - I had problems. Because you extrude walls and subtract from them initially it's very easy. Also took days to put two opposing shed roofs separated by a clearstory on walls. Recently I got Sketch Up and for me, find it awkward adding or subtracting items. I'd still use it but it's outdated and I've lost some of the software. I designed a few remodeling projects and a nice home with it and everyone was happy with the outcome. i got pretty good at it and could whip out the simpler shop drawings quickly. Later, was a steel detailer using Auto-Cad 12.
